SINGLE ROPE TECHNIQUE (SRT) CANYONING COURSE
A comprehensive two-day training course providing instruction in canyoning skills based on single rope techniques, efficient movement and safety. With an optional camping add on.
This course is designed for canyoners who want to learn single rope technique specific to canyoning. This course is not appropriate if you have never previously abseiled.
We will spend the first day learning skills in a cliff-based environment and on the second day we will complete an intermediate canyon using SRT methods.
This course teaches the foundational rope skills recommend for moderate difficulty aquatic canyons found in New Zealand, Europe and Australian.

DAY 1: CLIFF BASED SKILLS SESSION
Introduction, preparation and gear selection
Establish ropes for abseiling, use of canyon rope bag
Abseil with modern descenders using various belay methods (self, bottom, top)
Vertical mobility: device lock off, efficient ascending techniques
Single Rope Techniques and releasable rescue contingencies (MMO, Figure 8 Block EMO, traverse lines)
