ABSEILING FUNDAMENTALS
A one day training course teaching you essential rope rigging skills and abseiling techniques.
This course is designed for people who want to learn the fundamental skills of abseiling, in a small group with direct coaching from an expert instructor.
Abseiling is one of the critical skills of moving through the mountains, whether you are hiking rugged terrain, climbing or canyoning. We will cover equipment selection, anchor assessment, self-management, belay types, self-rescue and much more.
By day’s end you will understand the fundamentals of establishing a rope for abseiling and how to do it safely. If you are looking to abseil for fun, join a club, or pursue your own adventures this is the course to set you up for success.
Previous abseiling experience in a recreational setting is recommended, but not required.

Abseil with various descenders (tubular, figure 8, assisted breaking device) using various belay methods (self, bottom, top)
Vertical mobility: device lock off, basic ascending techniques
Self rescue, partner rescue
Conclusion and debrief
